The Template point is used for convenience to repeat a set of points multiple times inside a project. This can save time in creating and maintaining projects by only having to create a group of points once and using a Template point to control how many times the points are repeated. The Template point can also be used as a data source for a Timeline point or Grid point . The Template point is a simple and flexible alternative to using the Sub Project point and can be used to improve the maintainability of projects.
See below for details on each of this point's properties.
This allows you to select a page from your project that will be converted into a
Template Page
. While the page is being used as a
Template Page
it cannot be used as a normal page in the project.
This allows you to create a new
Template Page
using the
Template Editor
.
This sets how many pages will be generated from the template. For example, when set to 3 it will create 3 usable entry pages based on the template. When using the Template Point as a data source for a Grid point or a Timeline point , this will create 3 entry pages for those points.
When enabled, each of the entry pages will be displayed on the current page. This is recommended when using a Template point to simply replicate points multiple times. This is not recommended when using Template point with an associated point such as Grid point or a Timeline point .
This sample demonstrates how a Template point can be used to conveniently copy and repeat a group of points within a project.
